The Peruvian born Dutch director Heddy Honigmann (b. 1951) has directed nearly twenty films in her career of 30 years. Honigmann builds the narrative of her films through multiple characters cast with care. Honigmann is said to be the master of humane documentary cinema, who gets very close to her protagonists.
Retrospectives of Honigmann’s work have been held around the world including MoMa in New York and Cinema Arsenal in Berlin. She has received the IDFA Living Legend award in 2013 and the prestigious Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds Prijs in 2016. Honigmann has held many masterclasses around the world. DocPoint 2017 – Meet the Master will be Honigmanns first masterclass in Finland. Her lecture will deal with the importance of casting and selecting your characters, among other things.
Masterclass takes place at Kulmasali in Korjaamo Cultural Centre on Friday 27th Jan at 1 pm–4:30 pm.
