Jean-Gabriel Périot (b. 1974) is a master of montage whose cinematic language is born out of inventive use of archival material. Periot’s work defies definitions somewhere in between documentary film, animation and experimentalism. His core subject matter is history and violence.
Periot’s is known for his short films, of which Poor Little White Girls (2015) will be screened at DocPoint 2016 as part of Oskar Alegria’s collage film The Darkness Collection. Periot’s first feature film A German Youth will be screened as the headline film of the DocPoint main seminar From Activism to Terrorism. Periot’s films have won numerous awards and recognitions, which include the main prize at Tampere Film Festival 2006.
